This vessel is from the “Nagareru” series. Taken from the Japanese word for flowing, the piece is a balance between two forces. The vessel is cone 6 fired porcelain with two opposing glaze decorations. The base glaze is a rich matte brown underglaze that gives volume to the carved surface while the top glaze is a runny blue glaze that is made to flux and melt the underglaze beneath it. The two bleed together to form a “muddy water” sort of feel. There are imperfections and many small moments of happenstance creating a balance. This piece measures 13” x 6.5” X 6.5”
