This vessel is from the “Nagareru” series. Taken from the Japanese word for flowing, the piece is a balance between two forces. The textured portion of the piece is made to represent the movement of the world. Tectonic plates, river beds, and volcanoes. The smooth portion represents the stillness of the world. The two sides are in constant motion with each other. The piece is High fired with carbon glaze over a cone 6 porcelain. There are imperfections and many small moments of happenstance creating a balance between the sections of the vessel. This piece measures 9” x 7” X 7” and features gold leafing.
